Yucatan is placed at the 10th position of the lowest average on scholar education in Mexico, with a media of 9.6 year of school attendance among its population.
According to data from Instituto Nacional de Estadística, Geografía e Informática (INEGI), in Yucatan only 15.2 percent of people with 15 years and older finished their primary education (the first six years after preschoolar).
Also, people in the same range of age, but with no schooling at all or with only one year of primary education, represents the 16.3 of its total population. Recent population data shows that Yucatan has 2.3 million inhabitants.

Population with complete elementary education or incomplete secondary education, incomplete technical or commercial studies (with completed elementary education) is 15 percent of the total population aged 15 and over.
Those who have completed secondary or technical/commercial studies with completed elementary education, or have less than three degrees passed in technical or commercial studies with completed secondary, high school or bachelor’s degree (general or technological) is 30.3 percent.
People with technical or commercial studies with completed secondary, high school or bachelor’s degree (general or technological) or teacher schools, or with less than two degrees in technical or commercial studies with completed high school, or who have less than four degrees passed in college, teacher schools or equivalent is 21.1 percent.
In the case of people with completed high school in the state, the number is 34,538, only two percent of the population aged 15 or older.
The population that finished career studies, college or people who have less than two degrees approved with specialized studies is 12.7 percent.
At the same time, those who concluded specialized studies or master’s degree, or who have less than two degrees approved in doctoral studies is 1.9 percent of their population aged 15 or older.
Population that completed doctoral studies is only 0.3 percent.
